The Story

Stella has always noticed something the grown-ups don't: falling stars never quite reach the ground. They get caught in spider webs, snagged on tall branches, blown sideways by the wind, lost among the chimney tops. So every clear night she walks the hillside above her town with a row of empty jam jars looped on a length of twine, gently collecting the lost stars and giving each one a glass home. Soon, Stella's bedroom windowsill becomes the brightest place in town — a glowing little museum of small light, where no falling star is ever forgotten.
