Who we are
Luminamist (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides illustrated picture books and bedtime reading experiences for families with children roughly ages 2–8. Our website and related services are designed with children and parents in mind.
If you have questions about this policy or our privacy practices, contact us at privacy@luminamist.com.
Information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Luminamist. Today, our public website is primarily a marketing and discovery experience. When you visit, we may automatically collect basic technical information such as browser type, device type, operating system, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed, and referring URLs. Our hosting providers may also maintain standard server logs for security and reliability.
When you create an account, start a free trial, subscribe, or use reading features in the future, we may also collect information you provide directly, such as a parent or guardian name, email address, password, billing details, communication preferences, and child profile details you choose to add (for example, a first name or age range). We may also collect reading activity such as books opened, progress, favorites, and session timestamps to personalize the experience.
We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is reasonably necessary to provide the service, and we design our products so that account creation and billing are handled by a parent or guardian.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve Luminamist; deliver books and reading features; process subscriptions and free trials; communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests; protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and understand how our services are used so we can make them better for families.
We may send service-related messages such as account confirmations, billing notices, and important policy updates. With your consent where required, we may also send occasional product news or reading recommendations. You can opt out of promotional emails at any time.
Children’s privacy
Luminamist is built for families. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws where applicable.
Parents and guardians control child profiles and reading activity associated with a family account. We do not serve behavioral advertising to children, and we do not sell personal information.
If you believe we have collected information from a child without appropriate consent, please contact us at privacy@luminamist.com. We will review the request and take appropriate steps, which may include deleting the information.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly, remember preferences, and understand aggregate usage. Some cookies are essential for basic functionality such as security and load balancing.
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies on our marketing site. If we introduce optional analytics or personalization tools in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, provide appropriate choices or consent mechanisms.
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of the site function.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in limited circumstances:
- With service providers who help us run Luminamist, such as hosting, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, and customer support, under contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only for our instructions.
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Luminamist, our users, or others.
- In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
- With your direction or consent, such as when you choose to share content or connect a third-party service.
Data retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide the services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and how you use Luminamist.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit where appropriate, access controls, and vendor review. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can update account details in account settings when available, unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages, and contact us at privacy@luminamist.com to exercise privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you are a parent or guardian, you may request access to or deletion of information associated with a child profile linked to your account.
International users
Luminamist is operated from the United States. If you access our services from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. For significant changes affecting registered users, we may also provide additional notice such as an email or in-product message.
Your continued use of Luminamist after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised policy, subject to applicable law.
